NILO is a Japanese singer and songwriter based in Munich.
Her musical career began in 2007 in Japan, where she made her debut as a bossa nova singer on a Japanese label. She quickly established herself with a warm, intimate voice in the fields of bossa nova, jazz and acoustic music. In 2011, she moved to Munich, where
her artistic profile expanded significantly. With the growing demand for Japanese language and Japanese pop culture in Germany and Europe, she began to focus intensively on city pop – a Japanese genre that combines nostalgia, urbanity and Western influences.
NILO regularly performs on the main stages of major Japan events in Europe, including the Japan Day Düsseldorf/NRW and other festivals with tens of thousands of visitors. She was also the first Japanese singer to be selected for the Dreamlight Concert and has toured numerous European cities in this context.
In Munich, she is actively involved in the development of a local city pop scene. Together with BR DJ Christoph Lindemann, she regularly organizes the City Pop Night with the aim of establishing City Pop as an independent concert culture in Munich.
Live performance on Friday (ball opening show) and Sunday.
